Student life in Oxford, during a pandemic
22nd September 2020
Our students finished quarantine in the first week of September. It was a little strange spending so much time together in one place, but it also gave them a chance to get to know each other!
Classes have started, timetables are set and students now know their way around the college. They know where to shop for food and essentials, they know the best and cheapest place to have lunch, and they are starting to discover all the wonderful things Oxford has to offer.
Students are going into Oxford together in small groups, discovering the best places to hang out, and getting a feel for the city. Admittedly, things are a little different, masks have to be worn in shops, public transport and museums, and there is now a ‘rule of six’ in place for people meeting outside their bubble in England. Because they are staying within their groups, they can all go to the park together or go on trips and excursions together.
Some of our students took the train into London at the weekend, stayed at an Airbnb and went to see the sights! We are looking forward to seeing the pictures soon! There’s an official London Day Trip planned for this Saturday as well, where students can either explore the city with their friends and meet back at a given time, or they can follow the optional tour of central London with their guide.
This week, there is a whole host of activities for them to choose from: football, tennis, karaoke and cocktails, guitar lessons, as well as finding new things on Oxford’s free information site, Dailyinfo.
