Course Overview

Young Professionals combines professional skills tuition with a choice of vocational disciplines. Students choose one subject per 2-week course and receive specialist tuition which provides an opportunity to discover potential career options.

‘Young Professionals’ receive a variety of teaching styles, including theory lessons, practical sessions and group project work. Two full-day excursions are also provided each week, including one ‘Study-in-Action’ day related to a student’s chosen specialism.

The social programme and weekly excursions are all designed to link with the academic syllabus each week. Students are always busy and having fun inside and outside the classroom with the extensive social programme of local activities and visits to places of interest.

Activities

The activity timetable at both venues is planned and organised by a dedicated Activity Manager, who is responsible for choosing and coordinating weekly activities and excursions. There are local visits to places of interest and to musical, dramatic and artistic events, plus student social gatherings.

One of the key responsibilities of an Activity Manager is to respond to student requests and ensure that all students have a fantastic time during their stay.

Accommodation

The courses are fully-residential within the college and breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided (packed lunches on excursion days). Teaching and course activities take place within the college and at other local venues.

Both colleges are situated on lovely campuses and provide an inspiring backdrop to the work and activity. There are common room facilities, wifi is available throughout the college and a weekly laundry service is provided.

The course includes airport transfers on the day of arrivals and departure and there is a travel insurance provision.

Excursions

Our Young Professionals are taken on two excursions each week. One is an investigative visit to a place of work related directly to their chosen course and career, i.e. in the field of business, science, engineering, media or medicine in Oxford, or working in art & design, law, forensic science or business in Tonbridge. These ‘Study-in-Action’ excursions are an integral part of the overall programme. The second visit is to a local place of particular interest, such as a college, gallery, famous building or landmark, as part of the activities programme, and for broader cultural enrichment.
