Tutor Spotlight: Giulia Fanti

Campus Oxford - Giulia Fanti MAClassical Civilisations (Cambridge)

Giulia is currently a 1st year PhD student at the University of Cambridge, and member of Corpus Christi College, where she is working on a thesis in Latin literature. She has been studying Greek and Latin for roughly eleven years. After attending a grammar school, she first obtained a Bachelor degree and then a Master degree in Classics from the University of Pavia (IT). She has a significant international experience, as she has attended a few summer schools in the UK and spent one year studying in Heidelberg (DE).

Besides being involved in preparing a few conference talks, she is currently engaged in several other activities like an active participation as a committee member in the Cambridge University European Society. She has a lively interest for all the aspects related with Classical Antiquity, in particular for literature, which she regards as the unavoidable starting point to delve into the Classical civilizations.

She is deeply concerned with the increase of awareness of the Classical world, as she is firmly convinced of its importance in understanding our current way of being and thinking.

Beside her research, Giulia loves reading novels, foreign cultures and languages (in addition to Italian and English, she can speak German and French), travelling and playing tennis.
